Curator And Publications Manager at The Broad

Ed Schad is an experienced curator and educator currently serving as an Adjunct Professor at Claremont Graduate University since September 2017, and as Curator and Publications Manager at The Broad since September 2006. In this role, Ed Schad assists in organizing and curating extensive exhibition spaces in Santa Monica and Eli Broad's residences, while also managing significant publication projects, including a 464-page monographic catalogue of The Broad Collections. Previous experience includes writing for Flash Art International and ArtSlant, serving as a Guest Editor for The Brooklyn Rail, and working at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago in various capacities. Ed Schad holds an MA in Modern Art History from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a BA in Psychology from The University of Dallas.

The Broad

The Broad is a contemporary art museum founded by philanthropists Eli and Edythe Broad on Grand Avenue in downtown Los Angeles. Designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro in collaboration with Gensler, the museum offers free general admission and presents an active program of rotating temporary exhibitions and innovative audience engagement. The Broad is home to nearly 2,000 works of art in the Broad collection, which is one of the world’s leading collections of postwar and contemporary art, and welcomes more than 800,000 visitors a year. The 120,000-square-foot building features two floors of gallery space and is the headquarters of The Broad Art Foundation’s worldwide lending library, which has been loaning collection works to museums around the world since 1984.
