Gianetta Baril

Principal Harp at The Calgary Philharmonic

Gianetta Baril is an accomplished harpist with a distinguished career spanning several decades. Currently serving as the Principal Harp and a Harpist with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra since 2001, Gianetta is also the Founder of Harp to Heart and a co-founder of the Canadian International Summer Harp Institute. Gianetta has extensive experience as a freelance solo, chamber, and orchestral musician since 1974 and has contributed to education as a Harp Faculty member at Mount Royal University Conservatory and a Harp Instructor at the University of Calgary until October 2023. Gianetta previously held the position of Artistic Director for the Instrumental Society of Calgary from 2010 to 2014, overseeing programming and production for an eight-concert chamber music series. Gianetta holds a Bachelor of Music in Harp Performance from the University of Toronto, completed between 1978 and 1982.
