Jose Francisco Ferraz de Toledo

Jose Francisco Ferraz de Toledo is a seasoned expert in plant genetics and biotechnology, currently serving as a Senior Associate at The Context Network since August 2017, where responsibilities include providing technical consulting for research and M&A projects related to breeding and biotechnology programs. Previously, roles included Soybean Research and Development Director at Nidera Sementes Ltda., overseeing the creation and execution of a soybean improvement program for Brazil and Paraguay, and Senior Researcher at Embrapa Soybean, where significant contributions were made to quantitative genetics supporting soybean improvement efforts. Jose's leadership experience also includes a tenure as General Director at the Embrapa Soybean Research Center, managing over 300 staff with an annual budget of US$ 25 million while coordinating innovative public-private partnerships. Jose holds a PhD in Plant Genetics from the University of Birmingham and completed post-doctoral studies in Plant Genetics and Breeding.
