Luis A. Despaigne

Luis A. Despaigne has extensive experience in law enforcement, having served in various roles with the New York Police Department (NYPD) and The Dalton School. From 2000 to 2015, they held positions including Deputy Inspector, Captain, Lieutenant, and Sergeant within the NYPD, where they managed staff, supervised investigations, and ensured compliance with procedures and directives. In 2015, they joined The Dalton School as the Director of Security, responsible for prioritizing and overseeing activities related to the protection and security of students, faculty, staff, visitors, and school assets.

Luis A. Despaigne has a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Spanish Language and Literature from Wesleyan University, which they obtained from 1986 to 1990. Luis A. then pursued a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree in Advanced Management and Finance at Columbia | SIPA from 2002 to 2006. Additionally, they completed the Crisis Leadership in Higher Education (Executive Program) at Harvard Kennedy School in 2016. Luis A. also has a certification in Police Management Institute (PMI) from Columbia Business School in 2013. Furthermore, Luis obtained certifications in Facility Security Design from ASIS International in 2017 and Crisis Leadership in Higher Education from Harvard Kennedy School Executive Education in 2016.
