Joshua Troll has worked in a variety of roles in the field of fermentation. Joshua began their career in 2009 as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Oregon. In 2014, they moved to the University of Southern California as a Research Associate. In 2019, they joined Zymergen, Inc. as a Scientist III. In 2021, they became a Senior Scientist at Demetrix. Most recently, in 2022, they were hired as the Senior Manager of Fermentation at EVERY™.
Joshua Troll began their educational journey at Cabrillo College, where they studied Music from 1993 to 1996. Joshua then attended Sonoma State University for one year, studying Pre-Medicine/Pre-Medical Studies. After that, they enrolled at Stanford University and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology/Biological Sciences, General in 1999. In 2001, they moved to the University of Hawaii at Manoa and studied Zoology/Animal Biology for a year. Finally, they completed their education with a Doctor of Philosophy in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2009.
