Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)
Tomoo Machiba is a distinguished expert in sustainability and environmental governance, currently serving as a member of the Global Sustainability Standards Board at the Global Reporting Initiative since January 2024. As Managing Director of Zeroboard Research Institute since August 2023, Tomoo leads efforts in corporate greenhouse gas accounting and environmental data management across Asia. Having held significant roles such as Partner at ERM, Deputy Director at the UN Climate Technology Centre and Network, and Principal Policy Advisor at the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, Tomoo has consistently focused on low-carbon strategies, ESG advisory, and sustainable development goals. Previous positions at IRENA, OECD, and UNEP have further solidified Tomoo's expertise in policy analysis, knowledge management, and eco-innovation. Tomoo earned an MPhil in Development Studies from the Institute of Development Studies and a BA in Sociology & Media Studies from Sophia University.
