Jose Calves is a seasoned attorney with extensive experience in labor and employment law. Currently serving as Corporate Counsel - Employment at Pep Boys since January 2024, Calves also holds the position of Vice President of the Southern Region for The Hispanic Bar Association of New Jersey (HBA-NJ) since November 2021. Prior legal roles include Labor and Employment Attorney at Brown & Connery, LLP, and Associate Attorney at Kaufman Dolowich & Voluck, LLP, as well as Parker McCay P.A. Calves began a career in the legal field as a Judicial Law Clerk at the Superior Court of New Jersey and gained practical experience through internships at the EEOC, State of New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, and the Governor's Counsel. Calves earned a Juris Doctor from The George Washington University Law School and holds dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in History and Secondary Education from Rowan University.

The Hispanic Bar Association of New Jersey (HBA-NJ)

Founded in 1980, the HBA-NJ is a 501 (c)(6) statewide organization which represents the interests of attorneys, judges, law professors and law students who share a common interest in resolving the issues affecting Hispanics within the legal community. The purpose of the Association is to serve the public interest: (i) by cultivating the art and science of jurisprudence, (ii) by advancing the standing of the legal profession, and (iii) by preserving high standards of integrity, honor, and professional courtesy among Hispanic lawyers. The HBA-NJ is a very active bar association. In addition to its many initiatives, programs, and public advocacy activities, the HBA-NJ cooperates with other Hispanic bar organizations, with other Hispanic community, business, civic, charitable and cultural organizations, as well as with other legal organizations and in furtherance of the aforementioned purposes.
