Francesco Avella

Francesco Avella serves as the Senior Lead Data Architect and Center of Excellence (CoE) Leader of the Infrastructure Team at The Information Lab since December 2022. Previously, Francesco held the role of Senior Data Architect and worked as a Big Data Specialist and Data Scientist at Sparkle from June 2018 to December 2022. Earlier, Francesco was a Scientific Researcher at Planetek Italia and has an extensive educational background with degrees in Telecommunication Engineering, Data Science & Big Data, and a current PhD in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning from Sapienza Università di Roma. Additional qualifications include expertise in satellite image analysis, GIS systems, and remote sensing algorithms, with proficiency in tools such as Matlab, R, Tableau, and ArcGIS.
