Telly Tucker has extensive work experience in economic development. Telly currently serves as the President of The Institute for Advanced Learning and Research. Prior to this role, Telly was the Director of Economic Development in Arlington, VA, where they led the organization through a period of commercial growth and established collaborative partnerships. Telly also served as the Director of Economic Development for the City of Danville, Virginia, where they focused on recruiting new businesses and maintaining existing industries. Telly's experience also includes working as the Assistant Director for Economic Development in James City County, managing the local Enterprise Zone Program. Telly started their career as a teacher and coach at Lynchburg City Schools. Throughout their career, Telly has demonstrated expertise in strategic planning, business attraction strategies, and fostering partnerships.
Telly Tucker, CEcD, obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration - BBA degree with a focus on International Business and Spanish from James Madison University in 2004. Telly also obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in International Business from the same university during the same years. In addition to their undergraduate education, Telly attended E C Glass from 1994 to 1997. Telly further obtained a Certified Economic Developer Designation from the International Economic Development Council in March 2014.

Core focus areas include research that provides a clear path to commercialization, advanced learning opportunities where education meets experience, and economic development through conferencing and a partnership with the Southern Virginia Regional Alliance. It is located in scenic and historic Pittsylvania County on the VA/NC state line, within a short drive of Roanoke, Greensboro and Raleigh.
