Based in Los Angeles, The Motley was established in January of 2010 after recognizing a missing link between men’s online shopping and grooming products. There is a growing desire among men for a certain level of luxury in their personal care products, and they want the purchasing experience to be simple and straightforward. Founder of The Motley, Matthew Taylor Ruggieri, describes what he calls the "Motley Man" as someone who "is tired of drugstore grooming products, but shies away from extremely upscale, overpriced brands." He understands the value of a well-working product and sees an investment in looking his best.
