Christopher Powell

VP, Orchestral Operations & Artistic Administration at The Phoenix Symphony

Christopher Powell currently serves as the Vice President of Operations and Artistic Planning at The Phoenix Symphony since December 2021. Prior experience includes the role of Executive Director at Pittsburgh Festival Opera from March 2019 to September 2021, and Director of Artistic Initiatives at The Glimmerglass Festival from April 2015 to February 2019. Additionally, Christopher held the position of Music Administrator at Pittsburgh Opera from September 2001 to April 2015. Educationally, Christopher earned a Master of Business Administration in International Business from Point Park University (2012-2013), a Master’s degree in Music Performance from the University of Miami (1993-1995), and a Bachelor of Science in Music Teacher Education from Duquesne University (1989-1993).

The Phoenix Symphony has been proudly serving the citizens of the Phoenix metropolitan area and Arizona since 1947. The Phoenix Symphony presents an annual season from September through the beginning of June, featuring full-length classical and pops concerts at Symphony Hall in downtown Phoenix, as well as concerts in Scottsdale, Mesa, Prescott and throughout central Arizona.
