Valerie Bontrager is an accomplished education and community engagement professional with extensive experience in the arts and education sectors. Currently serving as the Director of Education and Community Engagement at The Phoenix Symphony since January 2015, Valerie previously held the position of Director of Education and Public Programs at Challenger Space Center Arizona from May 2008 to December 2014. Earlier career roles include research positions at the Exploratorium and King's College, London, as well as serving as the Manager of Educational Services at the Arizona Science Center from 1997 to 2003. Valerie Bontrager holds a Graduate Research degree in Science Education from King's College and a B.A. in History and Political Science from Goshen College.

The Phoenix Symphony has been proudly serving the citizens of the Phoenix metropolitan area and Arizona since 1947. The Phoenix Symphony presents an annual season from September through the beginning of June, featuring full-length classical and pops concerts at Symphony Hall in downtown Phoenix, as well as concerts in Scottsdale, Mesa, Prescott and throughout central Arizona.
