Bruce Variano

Bruce Variano is a highly experienced professional in the pharmaceutical and chemical fields, currently serving as Senior Scientist and Director of Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls (CMC) at the Population Council since August 2003, where responsibilities include directing manufacturing activities for reproductive health products and addressing regulatory issues for contraceptive vaginal rings. Prior to this, Bruce worked at Emisphere Technologies, Inc. from January 1991 to January 2002, holding various leadership positions that included overseeing the development of an oral insulin product and establishing a cGMP chromatographic method development laboratory. Early career experience includes a role as a Scientist at Hitachi Instruments. Bruce holds a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from New York University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Fordham University.
