Managing Director - Power And Climate at The Rockefeller Foundation

Dr. Joseph Curtin has extensive work experience in the field of climate policy and advocacy. Dr Joseph is currently serving as the Managing Director - Power and Climate at The Rockefeller Foundation, where they are responsible for overseeing power and climate-related initiatives. Prior to this, they held positions at the foundation as the Director of Policy, Research, and Advocacy - Power and Climate, and as the Director of Policy and Grant Making in the Climate and Resilience department.

Before joining The Rockefeller Foundation, Dr. Curtin worked as a Senior Fellow at IIEA from 2014 to 2019, where they conducted research on various climate-related issues. Dr Joseph also served as a Research Fellow at University College Cork from 2015 to 2018, focusing on climate research.

Dr. Curtin has expertise in evaluating the effectiveness of financial incentives in energy efficiency upgrades as a Visiting Research Fellow at London Business School in 2017. Dr Joseph has also played a role in climate program evaluation at OECD from 2011 to 2014, working on drafting environmental performance reviews and developing monitoring frameworks for climate policy implementation.

In addition, Dr. Curtin has worked as a Policy Analyst for the National Economic and Social Council, where they contributed to the identification of policy options to achieve climate targets, with a particular focus on the buildings sector. Dr Joseph has also held the position of Policy Analyst at SEAI, where they worked on the National Energy Retrofit Programme and low carbon buildings, among other topics.

Throughout their career, Dr. Curtin has been actively engaged in climate policy research and advocating for sustainable solutions.

Dr. Joseph Curtin has a strong educational background with a focus on political economy and economics/politics. From 2004 to 2005, they attended The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), where they obtained an MSc in Political Economy. Prior to this, from 1994 to 1998, Dr. Curtin completed their undergraduate studies at Trinity College Dublin, earning a BA in Economics/Politics. Their educational journey demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of political and economic systems, laying a solid foundation for their professional career.
