Andrew Toft

Andrew Toft is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in policy management and research. Currently serving as a Senior Research Policy Manager at the Scottish Government since October 2021, Andrew leads initiatives on clinical research infrastructure, governance, and ethics, collaborating with the NHS and academic institutions. Previously, as a Senior Adviser at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Andrew focused on implementing digital infrastructure in developing countries to support UK objectives in poverty alleviation. Prior roles include Policy Adviser at the Department for International Development, where Andrew advanced the DFID's Digital Strategy, and various postings in the Civil Service Fast Stream, emphasizing technology policy and project management. Andrew's early career as a Research Scientist at the University of Glasgow centered on Systems Neuroscience and the development of therapies for CNS injuries.
