Head Of Legislation And Operational Policy, Social Security at The Scottish Government

Simon Coote has extensive experience in the Scottish Government, serving in various leadership roles since January 2010. Currently, Simon holds the position of Head of Legislation and Operational Policy in the Social Security sector, overseeing the implementation of recommendations from the Enterprise and Skills Review. Previously, Simon led the Energy Solutions Unit, addressing strategic barriers to energy infrastructure deployment, as well as directing a cross-cutting team focused on energy technology and innovation, which includes responsibilities for offshore oil and gas and renewable energy sources. Simon's earlier role included heading the Energy Consents and Deployment team, improving the assessment process for large energy applications. Simon holds a BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering from the University of Edinburgh and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from Heriot-Watt University.
