Joshua Majano

Joshua Majano is an experienced data analyst currently working at The Surplus Line Association of California since January 2022, in roles ranging from Data Analyst to Data Analyst Trainer. Previously, Joshua completed a Data Science Practicum at Washington State University, where a novel NCAA player efficiency metric was developed and a random forest regression model was built to predict player performance. Joshua has extensive teaching experience as an Adjunct Instructor at UC Berkeley Student Learning Center, focusing on mathematics courses while providing academic support as an Assistant Coordinator in Math/Statistics. Joshua holds a Master’s Degree in Data Science from the University of San Francisco and a Bachelor's Degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley, along with a Data Analyst Nanodegree from Udacity.

The Surplus Line Association of California

The Surplus Line Association of California serves as the statutory surplus line advisory organization to the California Department of Insurance (CDI) and facilitates the state’s capacity to monitor and direct surplus line brokers’ placements of insurance with eligible surplus line insurers. Working with its members and the CDI, the Association assists its members’ compliance with California laws and regulations; helps maintain a healthy, fair, and competitive surplus line marketplace in California; and strives to protect the interests of California insurance consumers.
