Michael Caturegli has a strong background in technology and analysis, with extensive experience in various leadership roles. Michael is currently serving as the Chief Technology and Analysis Officer at The Surplus Line Association of California (SLA), where they are responsible for all data analysis operations and technology. During their tenure at SLA, they successfully transitioned enterprise systems to hosted and/or Cloud environments, significantly reducing the technology footprint. Michael also led the creation of a complex API for integrating large insurance companies into SLA systems.
Prior to SLA, Michael worked at Pay By Touch as the Sr. Director of Business Systems, overseeing internal and back office software portfolios and implementations. Michael was also involved in several acquisition integration projects during their time there.
Before Pay By Touch, Michael held the position of Sr. Manager of Global Business Systems at eBay and PayPal. In this role, they were responsible for managing corporate systems and leading the entire eBay/PayPal merger and integration of all back office infrastructure and systems.
Michael began their career at Accenture, where they progressed through various roles, including software developer, team lead, project manager, and senior program manager. Michael specialized in implementing large-scale, enterprise applications and assisting clients with operational processes and technology solutions.

Michael Caturegli obtained a B.S. degree in Statistics and Industrial Engineering from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo. Michael completed this degree at an unspecified time. In 2019-2020, Michael pursued further education and obtained a Certificate in Business Analytics from Wharton Online. Additionally, they hold a certification as a California General Building Contractor B-License, which was obtained in October 2009 from the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB).
The Surplus Line Association of California
The Surplus Line Association of California serves as the statutory surplus line advisory organization to the California Department of Insurance (CDI) and facilitates the state’s capacity to monitor and direct surplus line brokers’ placements of insurance with eligible surplus line insurers. Working with its members and the CDI, the Association assists its members’ compliance with California laws and regulations; helps maintain a healthy, fair, and competitive surplus line marketplace in California; and strives to protect the interests of California insurance consumers.
