Blake Oshiro

Advisor, Hawaii at The Trust for Public Land

Blake Oshiro has a multi-faceted and deep understanding of public policy and politcs. He served in the State of Hawaii House of Representatives for eleven years where he was Majority Floor Leader, Majority Leader and served as Speaker Pro Tempore for the 2007 Second Special Session, serving in various leadership capacities early in his tenure. He also chaired or led committees relating to the environment, land use, labor, and criminal and constitutional law.

From 2011 until 2014, Blake served as the Governor’s Deputy Chief of Staff with a specific oversight brief of all matters pertaining to policy and the state executive budget. He was the Governor’s lead person in dealing with the state legislature, the county governments and the Hawaii Congressional delegation.

A graduate of the William S. Richardson School of Law, University of Hawaii with an Environmental Certificate, and the Kennedy School of Executive Education at Harvard University, Blake is an accomplished attorney and the recipient of many professional awards for excellence and leadership on such issues as public interest, environmental, administrative, and constitutional law.
