Dano Weisbord

Advisor, New England at The Trust for Public Land

Dano serves as Chief Sustainability Officer at Tufts University. In this role, Dano is focused on advancing a university-wide vision and strategy for sustainability and – importantly – work closely with faculty to leverage their leadership and excellence. He values connecting university and community sustainability challenges to curriculum and research and using authentic problem solving as a way to cultivate hope and prepare students to be change-makers.

Prior to Tufts, Dano worked for over a decade at Smith College, where he held the position of Associate Vice President for Campus Planning and Sustainability and COVID-19 Administrator. Over his more than 10 years at Smith, Dano served as director of the Center for the Environment, Ecological Design and Sustainability and was the college’s founding director of sustainability. Dano also served as the Head of Organizational Learning and Change at ActionAid International, a global federation working for a world free from poverty and injustice.

In addition to TPL, Dano serves on the Conservation Committee of the Farm and Wilderness Foundation Board and as an Advisory Board Member of the Net Zero Universities at the Sustainable Development Solutions Network. Dano graduated from Tufts University with a Masters of Arts in Urban and Environmental Policy after receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Industrial Design from Rhode Island School of Design.
