John Meier is retired and lives on Maui. He and his wife Melissa are avid hikers, and have logged over 6,500 miles trekking across Hawaii, the continental U.S., and beyond since 2017. They are “land for people” advocates with a passion for increasing public access and adding hiking trails to public lands. John and Melissa enjoy outdoor volunteer opportunities, and John is on the Maui Advisory Council for Na Ala Hele. Prior to retirement, John worked as a software engineer. He spent his early years working at Apple when it was still a small company, and was later involved with several software startups. John is named as inventor on 15 U.S. patents.
