David Uminsky

Executive Director And Research Professor Data Science Institute at The University of Chicago

David Uminsky currently serves as the Executive Director of the Data Science Institute at the University of Chicago, a position held since September 2020. Prior to this role, David was the Executive Director and founding Director of the Data Institute at the University of San Francisco from August 2016 to September 2020, overseeing all academic and research activities. David also held the position of Associate Professor of Mathematics at the University of San Francisco, where responsibilities included research in applied mathematics and data science, as well as teaching various courses. Additionally, David was the Director of the Data Science Graduate Program at the same institution, coordinating collaboration among computer scientists, statisticians, mathematicians, and economists. Previous experience includes serving as an NSF Postdoctoral Research Fellow at UCLA from August 2009 to July 2012. David holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Boston University and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Harvey Mudd College.
