Deborah Nelson serves as Dean of the Humanities and holds the title of Helen B. and Frank L. Sulzberger Professor of English and the College at the University of Chicago, where exemplary contributions have been made since 1996. Nelson has also been a Professor and Chair of the Department of English and was previously an Associate Professor and Deputy Provost for Graduate Education. Prior to the University of Chicago, Nelson worked as an Adjunct at Queens College and an English Language Teacher at Fudan University. Early career experience includes a role in Research Sales Support at The Sporting News. Academic qualifications include a PhD in English Language and Literature from the CUNY Graduate Center, a Master's degree from Columbia University, and a BA from Yale University.
