Matthew Tirrell

Matthew Tirrell is a distinguished academic and leader in the field of engineering, currently serving as the Pritzker Director of the Institute for Molecular Engineering at The University of Chicago and as the Deputy Laboratory Director for Science at Argonne National Laboratory. With extensive experience in academia, Tirrell held the position of Arnold and Barbara Silverman Professor and Chair of Bioengineering at the University of California, Berkeley, and served as Richard A. Auhll Professor and Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Prior roles also include professorship at the University of Minnesota. Tirrell holds a Ph.D. in Polymer Science and Engineering from the University of Massachusetts and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Northwestern University.
