William Greenland

Assistant Provost, Institutional Analysis at The University of Chicago

As Assistant Provost, Will leads Institutional Analysis, providing critical research, analytics, and metrics for several parts of the University, including data related to accreditation and other academic processes.

Will joined the University of Chicago in 2013 as the first Director of Institutional Analysis. In that role he developed the Institutional Analysis function as a resource for sharing information across the University and with external agencies. He previously served as Director of Strategic Analysis and Decision Support at the University of Virginia in 2018, before returning to the University of Chicago in 2020.

Will completed his education at the University of Oxford, where he obtained a BA in mathematics and philosophy and a DPhil in computer science. He has over ten years of experience in various institutional research settings and has played an active role in several national organizations, including serving on the council of the Association of American Universities Data Exchange.
