Vanessa Hayes is an accomplished researcher in cancer genetics, currently serving as the Petre Chair of Prostate Cancer Research at the University of Sydney since January 2014, where Vanessa leads the Ancestry & Health Genomics Laboratory. Vanessa also holds honorary and extraordinary professorships at the University of Manchester and the University of Pretoria, respectively, and co-founded the Southern African Prostate Cancer Study in 2008. Additional roles include honorary professorship at the University of Limpopo and past positions at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research, University of New South Wales, J. Craig Venter Institute, and Children's Cancer Institute. Vanessa’s educational background includes a Ph.D. in Cancer Genetics from the University of Groningen and multiple degrees in Human/Medical Genetics and Genetics from Stellenbosch University.
