JoAnn Browning is the Interim Vice President for Research at The University of Texas at San Antonio, a role assumed in June 2023 after 25 years in higher education. Previously, JoAnn served as the Dean of the Margie and Bill Klesse College of Engineering and Integrated Design at UTSA from December 2021 to June 2023. JoAnn’s extensive experience at UTSA includes positions as Interim Dean of the College of Architecture, Construction, and Planning and Dean of Engineering. Prior to UTSA, JoAnn held significant roles at the University of Kansas, including Associate Dean of Administration and various professorial positions. JoAnn earned a Ph.D. and a Master's degree in Civil Engineering from Purdue University and the University of Kentucky, respectively, where JoAnn also completed a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
