Kamilla Stokes is an experienced legal professional currently serving as Assistant General Counsel for The University of Texas System since June 2020, providing legal counsel on medical legal matters and managing risks associated with medical malpractice claims. Prior to this role, Kamilla was a Senior Attorney and Director of Litigation at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice from January 2015 to June 2020, where responsibilities included overseeing over 1000 lawsuits and collaborating with stakeholders on complex legal issues. Kamilla also held the position of Assistant Attorney General at the Texas Attorney General's Office from September 1999 to January 2015, focusing on jury trials and legal strategies for personal injury and medical malpractice cases. Kamilla holds a Doctor of Law degree from Tulane University Law School and a BA in English and Journalism from the University of Mississippi.
