Alyssa Porter is an experienced music educator and director with a diverse background in teaching and music program management. Currently serving as the Next Gen Kids Director and Children's Choir Director at The Woodlands Methodist Church since August 2015, Alyssa has also held positions as a Music Director at Class Act Productions, where overseeing a children's musical for over 60 participants is a key responsibility. Previous roles include Elementary Music Teacher at Snyder Elementary and Music Teacher in the Conroe Independent School District and Humble ISD. Alongside teaching, Alyssa has worked in marketing and admissions at Christ Community School, managed a private voice studio, and served as a Sales Director for Mary Kay. Alyssa holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Teacher Education from Sam Houston State University, completed in 2011.

Since 1978, The Woodlands United Methodist Church (TWUMC) has been on mission to win people to Jesus Christ, disciple them in faith, and help those in need. TWUMC has grown to 14,000 members, offering 11 live worship services every weekend in three unique worship styles across two campuses. On Sundays, TWUMC streams three services (one in each style) live on YouTube. Throughout the week, TWUMC offers dynamic Christian programs for all ages, placing special emphasis on discipleship, missions and outreach. TWUMC also runs a licensed counseling center and an accredited pre-K – 8 private school.
