Alan Tubb is an experienced mechanical engineer with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and an ASPE degree, both obtained from The University of New Mexico. As an Optomechanical Engineer at TMT International Observatory, LLC since September 2013, Alan has been involved in critical design work for the Thirty Meter Telescope Project, including the Primary Mirror Segment Support Assembly and associated tooling. Prior to this role, Alan owned and operated Alan Tubb - Computer Aided Design Services, LLC, focusing on mechanical design contracting. Previous experience includes mechanical design roles at HYTEC, working on satellite instrumentation, and a long tenure as Senior Mechanical Designer at Los Alamos National Laboratory, where Alan developed diverse experimental equipment, including complex nuclear and robotics systems. Expertise encompasses manual drafting, AutoCAD, Anvil 1000 2-D CAD systems, and Unigraphics 3-D CAD systems.
