Klaus Waechter joined Siemens in 1991 (former Staefa Control Systems) in Stuttgart, Germany as an engineering and commissioning engineer for building automation systems where he was responsible for system topics across Germany, including internal training and global headquarters contacts. In 1997, Klaus transferred to the international headquarters in Switzerland, as a system test engineer and lead for the testing of the new DESIGO system. Klaus returned to German headquarters in Frankfurt two years later, with the responsibility to introduce the DESIGO system into the German market, including internal DESIGO training. He then returned to the Siemens Building Technologies headquarters in Zug, Switzerland as product manager in 2004, with overall responsibility for system topics of DESIGO and focus on BACnet communication. In the same year, Klaus joined the BACnet Interest Group Europe to represent Siemens in the marketing working group WG-M.
Klaus is the head of Swiss delegation for CEN TC247 Committee, Swiss expert for ISO TC205 WG3 and IEC TC57 WG21 Committees, and BACnet expert for ASHRAE SSPC135 Committee. Klaus is also President of BIG-EU Association, a Board Member for KNX Alliance and eu.bac.
