James Johnston

James Johnston is a seasoned software engineer with extensive experience across various roles in the technology field. Currently a member of the ProCaptivate team at Thumbtack since September 2016, James focuses on developing tools to enhance customer outreach for professional users. As an open source developer since 2015, notable contributions include several improvements to the CMake project, leading to direct commit privileges. Prior experience includes a pivotal role in turning around the Ortho Insight 3D Scanner project at Motion View Software LLC from 2008 to 2016, where James was responsible for the design and development of the associated technology. Consulting work was conducted at CodeNest.com and JJ Software from 1996 to 2009, providing software development and support for various medical practices. James began a technical journey in software programming as an intern at Vikus Corporation in 2005, focusing on application maintenance and database optimization. Educationally, James holds a B.S. in Computer Science with a concentration in Embedded Systems from Southern Adventist University.
