Ian Barbour has extensive experience in both aviation and the chemical industry. Currently serving as a Flight Instructor at Thunderbird Aviation, Inc., since 2012, Barbour provides ground instruction and flight training under Part 61 and Part 141 regulations. Prior to this, Barbour had a 30-year tenure at The Dow Chemical Company, where roles included General Manager of Water & Process Solutions, overseeing a global business in water purification, and Supply Chain Director, managing propylene oxide and ethylene oxide supply. Earlier positions at Dow encompassed Group Manager of Market Research and District Sales Manager, reflecting a solid foundation in sales, marketing, and business management. Barbour obtained a Master of Arts in Psychology from the University of St Andrews.

Our facilities are located outside the Twin Cities of Minneapolis/St.Paul, Minnesota, at Flying Cloud Airport and Crystal Airport. Thunderbird Aviation is an FAA certificated 135 Air Carrier and our flight school is FAA 141 approved. We operate the largest flight school in Minnesota and recently completed construction on a new Executive Terminal facility at Flying Cloud Airport.
