Joshua Cummings currently serves as the Director of Community Planning & Economic Development for Thurston County Government, leading a team of approximately 70 individuals while managing an $11 million budget to implement land use and building strategies directed by elected officials. Prior roles include Economic Development Manager and Sustainability Specialist, where innovative solutions for operational efficiency and sustainable practices were prioritized. Joshua's experience also includes government affairs and business relations management at Thurston Economic Development Council, where collaboration between businesses and government was facilitated. An earlier career at Weyerhaeuser focused on federal policy for rural jobs, and prior to that, work with a U.S. Congressman and the Panetta Institute for Public Policy provided foundational legislative experience. Joshua holds a Bachelor's degree from Western Washington University and a Master of Science in Management and Leadership from Western Governors University.
