Steve Litherland

Associate Vice President For Libraries at Tidewater Community College

Steve Litherland has a diverse work experience in library services. Steve started their career as a Government Documents Student Assistant at Old Dominion University in 1996. Steve then worked as an Office Services Assistant and Office Services Specialist at the same university. In 1999, they became a Library Assistant and later transitioned to the role of Business Reference Librarian. In 2007, they joined Tidewater Community College as a Librarian and eventually became the Coordinator of Library Services. In 2013, they were promoted to the role of Associate Vice President for Libraries at Tidewater Community College.

Steve Litherland holds a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Information Science from The University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Philosophy from Old Dominion University. Steve began their higher education journey by completing an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree at Tidewater Community College.

Tidewater Community College

Founded in 1968 as a part of the Virginia Community College System, Tidewater Community College (TCC) serves South Hampton Roads with campuses in Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Virginia Beach. TCC is the largest provider of higher education and workforce development services in Hampton Roads, enrolling nearly 34,000 students annually—the second largest undergraduate student body in the Commonwealth of Virginia. It is the 11th largest public two-year community college in the entire nation.
