Maki Balite Somosot is an experienced community organizer and communications strategist with a diverse background in journalism and public relations. Currently serving as a Community Organizer at Together Colorado and as the Founder of PUNTO, Maki has a strong commitment to advocacy and social justice. Previously, Maki held significant roles at the Ohio Organizing Collaborative, where innovative communications strategies were developed to address key issues such as police accountability and school funding. Maki's journalistic contributions include investigative reporting for Rappler on the trafficking of Filipino migrant teachers and award-winning news stories for local Louisiana papers. With a Master’s degree in Journalism Entrepreneurship from the University of Colorado Boulder and a rich professional history, Maki Balite Somosot continues to impact communities through effective communication and advocacy efforts.
