Damian Hickey

Damian Hickey currently serves as the Regional Director for Southeast Asia at the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, where responsibilities include leading strategic advisory efforts to government leaders and enhancing the use of digital technology and artificial intelligence for reform. Previously, Damian was the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence in the Australian Government, contributing to key national security policies, including the National Defence Statement and the 2023 Defence Strategic Review. With a solid diplomatic background, Damian has held roles in the Australian High Commission in Malaysia and Papua New Guinea, and served in various capacities within the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, focusing on economic diplomacy and trade relations. Damian holds a Master’s Degree in International/Global Studies from the University of Sydney and a Bachelor’s Degree in Western European Studies from Macquarie University.
