Richard McCluskey is the current Director of Public Relations, Litigation and Privacy at Toronto Hydro. Richard was previously an Associate Lawyer, Litigation and Dispute Resolution at McMillan LLP from September 2009 to February 2014. At McMillan, they maintained a commercial litigation practice with experience in complex contractual disputes, product liability litigation, class proceedings, administrative law, and settlement negotiations. Richard also provided strategic advice on compliance and regulatory matters to clients in various sectors, including retail, manufacturing, automotive, and consumer services. McCluskey has been published in a number of legal and industry publications, including the Lexpert Lawyer Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada, Internet and E-Commerce Law in Canada, the National Banking Law Review, the Canadian Privacy Law Review, the IBA’s North American Regional Forum Newsletter, the ABA’s Commercial Litigation Newsletter, and the Commercial Times. Richard is recognized for their exceptional commitment to values such as integrity, respect, teamwork, and maturity.

Some of McCluskey's successful litigation matters include staying a $100 million class proceeding against a foreign investment bank in Ontario, obtaining and uphelding the summary dismissal of a $6 million franchise claim at the Ontario Court of Appeal, and successfully resisting the enforcement of an arbitral award worth over $122K.

Richard McCluskey completed a Juris Doctor at Queen's University in the field of law. Richard also completed a Bachelor of Commerce at Queen's University in the field of business/commerce, general.

Richard McCluskey reports to Amanda Klein, Executive Vice-President, Public and Regulatory Affairs and Chief Legal Officer. Michelle Baigorri - Manager, Litigation & Privacy, Fabian Cappelli - Supervisor, Customer Communications Office, and Candace Heron - Supervisor, Claims Management report to Richard McCluskey.
