Mr. DeMarchi is Chief Investment Officer of Torstar Corporation. He returned to this position on June 1, 2022, after serving as Interim President and Chief Executive Officer since April 27, 2021. Mr. DeMarchi previously held the position of Chief Investment Officer following an almost 11-year period where Mr. DeMarchi was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer between 2009 and 2020. Before that, Mr. DeMarchi was Vice President, Corporate Development for Torstar Corporation with responsibilities including acquisitions, strategic investments and partnerships in both traditional and digital media. Mr. DeMarchi worked in a number of positions at Harlequin Enterprises between 1997 and 2005, including Executive Vice President, Business Development where he was responsible for expansion initiatives in new media, alternative formats and new geographies. Before joining Torstar, Mr. DeMarchi held various finance and strategy positions in the healthcare, packaged goods and auto industries. He currently serves, or has served on, boards such as Canadian Press Enterprises, Blue Ant Media, Sing Tao Canada and VerticalScope. Mr. DeMarchi holds an undergraduate degree in engineering, as well as an MBA from the University of Toronto.
