Elena Bergin has a diverse work experience in the education field. Elena worked as a Special Education Teacher in various capacities at the Town of Andover, including as a Reading Special Education Teacher and as a 6th Grade Inclusion Specialist. Elena also served as a MTA AEA Union Building Rep and represented union members during meetings with administration. Prior to their time at the Town of Andover, Elena worked as a High School Special Education Liaison/Teacher at the City of Gloucester and as a Kindergarten Special Education Liaison/Teacher at Fuller Elementary School. Elena has also held teaching roles at O'Maley Middle School, Marblehead Community Charter School, and the Language and Cognitive Development Center. Elena's work experience spans over 20 years in various educational settings.

Elena Bergin received their Bachelor of Arts degree from Marist College in 1992, where they focused on Public Relations with a minor in Studio Art. Elena then pursued further education and earned a Master's degree in Education from Lesley University between 1995 and 1999. Elena'sMaster's program specialized in Elementary Education for grades 1-6 and Special Education for PreK-9 students.

Additionally, Elena has obtained several certifications in the field of education. In October 1999, they received a Professional certification in Elementary Education (grades 1-6) and in Special Needs (PreK-9) from the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Later, in September 2010, they obtained a Professional certification in Moderate Disabilities (grades 5-12) from the same institution. Elena's latest certification is an Orton-Gillingham Associate, Level 1, which they acquired in July 2020 from the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators.
