Jonathan Beverly serves as Commissioner for the Tennessee POST Commission, overseeing law enforcement training and certification standards in Tennessee since May 2023. In addition, Jonathan is a County Commissioner for Rutherford County, representing District 6, and has been a Real Estate Agent with Benchmark Realty, LLC since June 2019, along with ownership of Beverly Properties, LLC since August 2017, specializing in investor property management. Jonathan’s law enforcement career includes a tenure as a Police Officer for the Town of Smyrna, where responsibilities include training new officers and serving on specialized teams. Prior experience includes roles as Sports Coordinator, Sports Facilitator, and Sports Official at the YMCA of Middle Tennessee. Jonathan holds a Master's degree in Criminal Justice from Bethel University and a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Middle Tennessee State University.

The Town of Smyrna operates under the Council-Manager form of government. This type of local government combines leadership of elected officials as members of our governing body, the Town Council, with the managerial experience of an appointed local government manager. This structure establishes a representative system where all power is concentrated in the elected council and where the council hires a manager to oversee the delivery of public services. In Smyrna’s government, Council Members are the policy makers elected to represent the community and to concentrate on policy issues that are responsive to the needs of its citizens. The Town Manager is appointed by the Town Council to carry out policy, to lead the staff of Directors and Managers of all Town departments, and to ensure that the entire community is being served.
