Joseph Montoya

Joseph Montoya is a highly experienced research scientist currently serving as a Staff Research Scientist at Toyota Research Institute since December 2018, following roles as Senior Research Scientist and Research Scientist. Prior to this, Joseph held a position as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Energy Technologies Area at Berkeley Lab from September 2015 to December 2018, under the advisement of Professor Kristin Persson. Joseph completed a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at Stanford University, where the dissertation focused on Theoretical Electrocatalysis for Renewable Fuels and Chemicals. Joseph's academic background includes a Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering from Stanford University and a dual Bachelor of Science degree in Math and Chemical Engineering from the University of South Carolina, where undergraduate research was conducted under the guidance of Professors John R. Monnier and Christopher T.
