Nikolaas Mertens has extensive work experience in sales and management roles. Nikolaas worked at Tractel for over 20 years, starting as an Area Sales Manager for BeLux from September 1997 to December 2001. Nikolaas then became the Area Sales Manager for Europe, Asia, and Africa from January 2002 to December 2017. Their most recent role at Tractel was as the Export Sales Director, starting in January 2018. Additionally, in 2013, they were a speaker at the NOSHCON South Africa Annual Occupational Risk Management Conference. In 2010, they participated in an economic mission with Awex Belgium to Libya, and in 2008, they participated in a similar mission to Algeria. Prior to their sales career, they worked as an Employee at Service Public Fédéral Justice from September 1991 to August 1997 and in the Clearing and Settling office at the National Bank of Belgium from September 1990 to August 1991.
Nikolaas Mertens has a diverse education history. Nikolaas attended Mercuri International in 2020 for sales enablement training and in 2018 for business coaching. In 2004, they attended Destination Business Paris, where they studied international business with a focus on negotiating and working in Russia. From 1992 to 1996, they pursued a Master's degree in Political Science at Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Prior to that, they attended Xaveriuscollege Borgerhout from 1978 to 1987, completing their high school education with a focus on classic languages. Apart from their formal education, they have also obtained the Tractel Distribution Growth certification from Mercuri International Group.
