Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors
Sergeant Major Green retired in 2019 from the United States Marine Corps after thirty-six and a half years of active service. He is a native of Jackson, Mississippi and attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina, in November 1983. Upon graduation, he was meritoriously promoted to Private First Class and reported to Hotel Battery, 3rd Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, Camp Pendleton, California, in March 1984 for duty as a field artillery cannoneer. He was meritoriously promoted to Lance Corporal in September 1984.

Founded out of tragedy in 1994, TAPS has grown and established itself as the front line resource to families and loved ones of our military men and women. TAPS has provided comfort and care, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through comprehensive services and programs including peer based emotional support, case work assistance, crisis intervention, and grief and trauma resources. TAPS provides ongoing emotional help, hope, and healing to all who are grieving the death of a loved one in military service to America, regardless of relationship to the deceased, geography, or circumstance of the death.
