Dawn Farrell has held various leadership positions throughout their career. Currently, they are the President & Chief Executive Officer of Trans Mountain since August 2022. Dawn also serves as an Independent Director at Portland General Electric and as the Chairperson of the Board at The Chemours Company.

In the past, Dawn has worked at Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL) as a Director in 2021. Prior to that, they served as the Chancellor of Mount Royal University in 2020 and as a Director at the Business Council of Alberta in 2019.

Dawn spent a significant portion of their career at TransAlta, where they held the positions of President and Chief Executive Officer from 2012 to 2021, and Chief Operating Officer from 2009 to 2012. Before joining TransAlta, they had roles at BC Hydro, including Executive Vice President Engineering, Aboriginal Relations and Generation from 2006 to 2007, and Executive Vice-President, Generation from 2003 to 2006.

Dawn also has experience as a Director at AERIC, Inc. from 1999 to 2003.

Dawn Farrell completed an Advanced Management Program at Harvard University. Dawn also holds a Master's degree in Economics and a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance, General from the University of Calgary.
