Tom Watkins has a diverse work experience spanning several decades. Tom started their career as a General Assignment/Local Government Reporter at Henderson Daily Dispatch in 1977. From 1978 to 1981, they worked at Baptist Children's Homes of North Carolina, Inc., where they served as a Writer, Media Relations Manager, and Interim Editor of the "Charity & Children" publication. Tom then moved on to S&A Communications in 1983, working as a Senior Account Executive specializing in automotive industry clients. In 1988, Tom joined the North Carolina Automobile Dealers Association as the Director of Public Affairs/Assistant to the President, overseeing public relations and media relations efforts. Finally, in 1993, they joined TWR as the Director of Strategic Initiatives & Partnerships, leading a team in global missions stakeholder engagement and emerging media strategies.

Tom Watkins attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 1973 to 1977, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication/Media Studies. Additionally, they attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro for an unspecified period, studying Public Administration.

TWR (formerly Trans World Radio) is a Christian nonprofit ministry dedicated to reaching the world for Christ by mass media so that lasting fruit is produced. We assist the global Church to fulfill the command of Jesus Christ to make disciples of all people by proclaiming the gospel of salvation, instructing believers in biblical doctrine and daily Christ-like living and modeling our message through our corporate and cooperative relationships.
