Transmission System Operator - Cyprus
(i) The Transmission System Operator (TSO) was established under the decision of the Government of the Republic of Cyprus (Law Regulating the Electricity Market of 2003, N122(I)/2003) in harmonization with Directive 96/92/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of the 19th December 1996, concerning the common rules for the internal electricity market, and at a following stage the compliance with the EU Directive 2003/54/EC. In 2021 a new Law Regulating the Electricity Market (N.130(I)/2021) was put int to force and the N.122(I)/2003 Law was cancelled. Article 57 of the new Law describes the establishment and operation of the TSO-Cyprus as a public entity. (ii) The main functions and responsibilities of the TSO-Cyprus are the operation of the Transmission System of Electricity and the operation of the Electricity Market. These functions and responsibilities are described in detail in Articles 70 (Transmission System Operator) and 71 (Electricity Market Operator) of the N.130(I)/2021 Law.
