Transportation Alternatives
Alexa Sledge is an experienced communications professional currently serving as the Director of Communications at Transportation Alternatives since February 2023, having previously held the position of Associate Director of Communications. Prior experience includes serving as a Press Officer for the Office of the New York City Public Advocate and various roles in the Office of Senator Charles E. Schumer, including Press Assistant and Staff Assistant. Notable internships include a Legislative and Press Intern for the U.S. House of Representatives and roles in marketing, research, and education at Northwestern University and other organizations. Alexa Sledge holds a Bachelor of Science in Learning and Organizational Change and Philosophy from Northwestern University, with additional studies at Universidad de Sevilla.

Transportation Alternatives’ mission is to reclaim New York City's streets from the automobile and to advocate for better bicycling, walking, and public transit for all New Yorkers. Streets and sidewalks are 80% of our public space in New York City – but right now, our lives are polluted, congested, and endangered by car and truck traffic. Transportation Alternatives believes that this public space belongs to the people of New York City, and we are working with New Yorkers in every borough to reclaim our streets.
