Bryna Helfer

Bryna Helfer has extensive experience in public engagement and strategic planning, currently serving as the Director of Public Engagement at the US Department of Transportation since October 2010. Prior roles include Sr. Director of Civic Engagement at the National Academy of Public Administration, board member at the ENDependence Center of Northern Virginia, and Manager of Strategic Planning at the U.S. Government Accountability Office. Over the years, Bryna has held various leadership positions in organizations focused on disability services, including Director of Project ACTION at Easter Seals and Director of the TBI Technical Assistance Center. Educational qualifications include an Ed.D in Special Education and Disability Studies from The George Washington University, an MA in Rehabilitation Services from George Mason University, and a BS in Therapeutic Recreation from Ohio University.
