James Murren

Trustee at Trinity College

James Murren serves as chair of the Nevada COVID-19 Response, Relief, and Recovery Task Force; he was appointed by Governor Steve Sisolak to oversee the private-public initiative. Previously, Murren served as chairman and CEO of MGM Resorts International, leading a company with 71,000 employees that operate in 17 locations around the globe. He also served as chairman of MGM China Holdings, which owns MGM Macau, and of MGM Growth Properties, a real estate investment trust. Prior to joining MGM in 1998, he spent 14 years on Wall Street as a top-ranked equity analyst, first with the firm Cyrus J. Lawrence and later as director of research and managing director at Deutsche Bank.

Murren holds leadership roles with several corporate and nonprofit entities, including Cirque du Soleil (co-chairman); the Murren Family Foundation (president); Howard University (trustee); and the Nevada Cancer Institute (co-founder).
